Writing Resources
As writers, we need all the help we can get.
That’s why I created Black Ink Cafe.
I wanted a place that brought together all of the great advice, tips and resources available for writers. As I make my own discoveries, I promise to share them with you and let you in on all the secrets available for creating better writing, managing your time and your life, getting published, and marketing what you write.
I subscribe to a lot of newsletters and websites out there about writing. Each day, my inbox is full of fabulous tips from all aspects of the industry. From Publisher’s Weekly to Writer’s Digest, Writing.com to the BookDesigner, I read and listen to what people are saying.
I am also a prolific reader. I read everything from mass market thrillers to sci-fi/fantasy and even shampoo bottles when I run out of pages. I have both a Kindle and a Nook. I read traditionally published and self-published authors.
I also try out and review a whole host of products. I don’t get paid for my reviews and I will never promote a product or service that doesn’t work.
Every writer out there today should, at minimum, be a regular reader/follower/contributor of the following websites:
- Writer’s Digest
- Nathan Bransford – former literary agent turned author
- EzineArticles – articles on everything – become an article writer and increase your reputation and following
- Backspace – a great writers’ group
The important thing about resources is that you explore and actually use the ones you like and that work for you. If you want to joint a writing group for example, actually devote time to it each week – it will do you no good unless you use it. And most of all – don’t forget to write!
